EnviroSTONE substantially reduces joint material loss in segmental systems caused by rainfall erosion. When activated by water, it forms an adhesive gel, bonding the crushed stone particles together. This gel physically holds the aggregate together while creating a thin film on the surface whenever it is wet. This film then acts as a buffer zone for which the water can travel over.

EnviroSTONE has a 2 level weed-deterring system. First, the strength of the Organic-Lock™ bond locks the crushed stone in place, which prevents soil and debris from accumulating in the barren joints. Second, if a seed does find a way into the joint, Envirobond has scientifically elevated the pH of the system which creates an unfavourable environment for seeds to germinate, resulting in deterred weed growth.

EnviroSTONE remains completely flexible to withstand thermal movement or settlement of the sub base materials. Additionally, the gelling ability of Organic-Lock™ allows the joint to self-heal. In conditions where cracking or movement may occur, rain water reactivates the Organic-Lock™, allowing the joint material to re-mould and fill any cracks. This self-healing aspect allows the segmental system to remain segmental while maintaining joint sand stability. Chemical alternative products, like Wide Joint Polymeric Sand, use a chemical reaction to firm up. When this bond is broken, it stays broken!

Using the unique 2 stage watering process, surface staining is avoided! Because the organic binder swells immediately when in contact with water, its erosion control properties are active much faster than any other chemical product. By activating EnviroSTONE with a slight mist on installation, the very top layer quickly develops its protective film. This allows for a stronger follow up spray that easily cleans the surface. Spraying too heavily when using a chemical product, like polymeric sand, results in the leaching of its binders.

Lifting and replacing stones is easy by moistening the joint with water. This creates the needed flexibility to remove a stone, adjust it and replace it where needed. Creating a solid, stable surface that can be easily altered gives even the beginner the confidence to create.

Envirobond is not a Polymeric Sand! There are chemical or Polymeric materials on the market for large joints with added chemical binders to create a stronger bond for wide joints. However, this is simply solving one problem by creating another. The material may become more rock-solid, but it hinders the flexibility. Since the ground beneath a paving system is prone to shifting, this flexibility is needed to prevent cracking or dislodging of the pavers. EnviroSTONE uses the coarser crushed stone particles for its integral strength. This maintains the needed flexibility while still resisting erosion.
