EnviroSAND for Pavers

EnviroBond stabilized joint sand (EnviroSAND), designed specifially for pavers, combines high grade angular joint sand, conforming to the specifications of the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI), blended with an ORGANIC binder for joint lock-up in segmental paver systems. e.g. - interlocking stone - natural cobble stone etc.

When activated by water, EnviroSAND forms an adhesive gel, bonding sand particles together. EnviroSAND substantially reduces joint sand loss in paver systems caused by wind and precipitation erosion. Vegetation and ant infestation are also effectively controlled as the. EnviroSAND remains in the joint of the paver. EnviroSAND remains completely flexible to withstand thermal movement or settlement of the subbase materials. Unlike other synthetic or “Polymeric” materials, EnviroSAND (because of its Organic Binder) can actually re-heal itself in the Paver joint. In conditions where cracking or movement may occur, the onset of water, heals the sand and molds it back to the shape of the paver joint.

With a strong focus on research in the paver industry, Envirobond has developed the newest innovation in Stabilizing Sands for pavers by adding a natural weed deterrent to our products. This weed deterrent additive works by attaching itself to the organic binder (to prevent leaching), while its components make for an unfavourable growing medium for nuisance weeds, found commonly in segmental pavers. Along with the weed deterrence comes an increased strength for increased longevity. By retaining its self-healing nature, Envirobond has developed a product that is absolutely ideal for segmental paver systems designed for movement. This newest innovation is patent pending technology stemming directly from government assisted research in the EnviroLab.

COVERAGE RATES:
Coverage rates for EnviroSAND will be dependent on the joint size and depth of the paver. However, the following is a model that can be used as a guideline:

MANUFACTURED PAVER: 90-100 Sq. Ft./ 55lb bag

TUMBLED PAVER: 60-80 Sq. Ft./ 55lb bag

Envirobond’s active binder is organic and therefore contains no harmful chemicals. It is completely safe for plants and animals and works in all climatic conditions.
